Astral Buoyancy Company begins shipment of the highly anticipated V-Eight, the world’s first breathable lifejacket. Developed for recreational and touring paddlers in warm climates, the V-Eight introduces Astral’s patent pending Airescape technology which eliminates excessive build up of body heat and perspiration. The principal components of Airescape include special contoured foam which reduces the body-to-PFD contact by 70% in combination with strategically placed vent ports which allow hot air to escape and fresh air to enter. The V-Eight also features a mesh back design making it ideal for paddling in boats with high seatbacks and facilitates airflow within the back panel, keeping your entire torso cool while paddling. "Airesecape represents a paradigm shift for the recreational PFD market." says President and Lead Designer Philip Curry. "After 3 years of development, we are proud to bring the rec market a PFD that has a tangible performance superiority at a fair price." The V-Eight is constructed with 100% PVC-Free Gaia and PE Foams to minimize its impact on the natural environment.

Lomo Watersport have added a new lightweight range of dry bags to their existing range of heavier duty dry bags.
2008-07-22 ---
Lomo Watersport have launched a new range of lightweight dry bags to complement their existing range of tough dry bags. Made of lightweight, durable nylon, these dry bags feature radio frequency welded seams, unlike most other lightweight dry bags. Lomo picked welded seams over taped seams as their tests showed that this construction method gave better performance and that the dry bags were less likely to suffer seam failure and the resultant leaks than the taped equivalents. Lomo’s range has 3 sizes to suit most requirements; small .7L, Medium 3L, Large 10L. Lomo’s bags are extremely well priced at £2.50, £3, and £4 respectively. More sizes are planned for later this year.

The all-new Nookie AIRHEAD was inspired by the popularity of the cult Nookie FX Shell. The ultra-comfortable neoprene neck has excellent stretch and flex characteristics for aerial and aquatic gymnastics, using the unique Nookie Ti-Glide neoprene with an adjustable power up for a water-tight seal. The whitewater shell is 100% constructed in Cornwall UK using 3-ply SomaTX3 fabric and the renowned Nookie ‘athletic cut’. The AIRHEAD has latex inner cuffs and Ti-Glide O-ring outer cuffs to prevent water jetting. The dual power up outer waist has a huge Velcro contact area and is cut high to avoid the bunching of excess material when sitting in a kayak. Full taping on the Ti-Glide neoprene inner seal offers the driest waist system available while remaining easy to slip on and off. Broad shoulders for ease of movement flow into anatomically pre-curved twisted articulated sleeves with Cordura reinforcement.
